The objective of this EU Phare Twinning project was to improve the quality of mental health care through provision of community based services. The project aimed to ensure Bulgaria to be prepared for applying successfully the Acquis communautaire with respect to the co-ordination of health care schemes with the European Union. During the project implementation the current situation was identified and a long-term development plan prepared. On this basis the Master plan, a well-functioning inter-institutional structure and an appropriate tool was developed and assessed. The twinning partners from the Bulgarian side were the Ministry of Health and the National Centre for Public Health Protection.  STAKES was responsible for the project implementation as the EU Member State Twinning Partner.
