European study on diagnostic criteria for diabetes based on fasting and post-challenge glucose.

Objectives

To further investigate the impact of diabetes, non-diabetic hyperglycemia, other components of the metabolic syndrome and other related factors on public health and clinical research and practice.

Implementation

40 European studies have been successfully coordinated at Chronic Disease Prevention Unit (previously Diabetes Prevention Unit), National Institute for Health and Welfare. New cohorts have been recruited and the existing database has been updated continuously.
