Description of the registry

This registry intends to collect persons with established dementia diagnosis, primarily Alzheimer Disease and have donated samples to the NSHDS before onset of dementia disorder.

Lists are produced of all patients with clinical dementia diagnosis in 1985 to 2009. These are matched with Medical Biobank registry to find those exsisting in both registries. Their medical records are reviewed to both gather data and verify that the clinical diagnosis is according to relevant guidelines.

Control patients will be recruited through the NSHDS. Those having AD or other dementia disorders do not qualify as controls.

Years of recruitment

1985-2009

Size of the cohort

422 verified AD patients. Finalized September 2012.
