Virology Days 2012 once again showed how impressively wide the spectrum of virus research is in Finland. Exciting oral presentations and posters covering the field from structural biology to microarray technology, from novel or recently discovered viruses to vaccine immunology. One could easily extend this annual event to a Virology Week.

It has been a pleasure to host this conference and the team of THL returned from the meeting with good feelings after the many positive comments we have received. Time to once more thank all participants for making Virology Days 2012 a success. We are indebted to all companies who have displayed their valuable equipment and reagents without which modern virus research would not be possible. The Majvik hotel with its skilled, helpful, and professional staff provided an excellent environment for these enjoyable two days. A warm thank you to all of you!
