Alcohol and drug analyses (KTL)
Analyses of alcohol and drug concentrations are conducted for occupational health care units and the substance abuse and health services.
Antenatal screening (KTL) (in Finnish)
Screening tests carried out on blood samples.
Antibody analyses (pneumococcus, Hib, meningococcus) (KTL)
Tests for serum IgG antibody concentrations.
Chemical analysis of persistent organic pollutants and water (KTL)
Chemical analyses of organic compounds (dioxins, PCBs, DDT and its metabolites, polychlorinated and polybrominated diphenyl ethers, polybrominated biphenyls) and water (e.g. organic tin compounds, anions and organic acids, bromate, TOC).
Environmental microbiological analyses (KTL)
Analyses of samples of building material, surface samples and air samples; analyses of water samples in suspected cases of waterborne epidemics or water problems; prevalence studies on legionella bacteria in water systems; and preparation of culture media.
Epidemic studies (KTL)
The goal of an epidemic study is to track the spread of the epidemic, the source of the epidemic and the modes of transmission. This will enable a timely response in the implementation of effective control measures.
Forensic medicine
The statutory responsibilities of medicolegal officers are to perform medicolegal autopsies, verification of death certificates and guidance and supervision with regard to establishing the cause of death.
HIV diagnostics (KTL)
HIV diagnostics includes, among other things, serological and genetic studies of the prevalence and incidence of HIV.
MMR studies (KTL)
Diagnostics and monitoring of MMR diseases (measles, mumps, and rubella) and MMR vaccine immunity studies.
Monitoring of intestinal infections (KTL)
Polio control, enterovirus monitoring and molecular epidemiology of calicivirus in Finland.
Mycobacterial diagnostics (KTL) (in Finnish)
Mycobacterial diagnostics includes identification of species of tuberculosis complex and atypical mycobacterium.

Paternity testing using samples collected by qualified physicians.
