The project "Establishment of Kosovo Forensic Psychiatry Institute" supports the overall judicial reform process and the efforts of Kosovo authorities to enforce the rule of law. Several new institutions need to be established. Among them is the new Kosovo Forensic Psychiatry Institute to be built in Pristina, the capital of the country.
The Forensic Psychiatry Institute will improve the treatment of mentally ill law offenders by building Kosovo authorities’ capacity to deliver professional services that comply with EU legislation.
THL lead expert team will work together with local authorities to improve coordination and delivery of services, establish standard operation procedures and train the new institute’s staff.
THL is responsible for the implementation of the project that started in March 2012 and will last for 18 months. Alongside with THL efforts another EU funded project is responsible for construction of the institute building.
The direct beneficiaries will be the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Justice, Kosovo Judicial Council and the Pristina Psychiatry Clinic. Also, the project team will connect with the Prison Health System as they will work closely with the Kosovo Forensic Psychiatry Institute.
