The WHO Collaborating Centre for Mental Health Promotion, Prevention and Policy collaborates with the WHO Regional Office for Europe (WHO Euro) and several international networks and mental health projects.
Project aims 1) to identify the indicators for empowerment in mental health, 2) to gather good practices and working models, 3) to support governments in the empowerment of mental health service users and their families and 4) to mainstream good practices in empowering the mental health service users. WHO CC‘s Senior Advisor, Professor Vappu Taipale, is a member of the project's advisory group.

The project aims to strengthen the rights and equal opportunities of children and youth with intellectual disabilities in health care. The project declaration was prepared and ratified in Bucharest, November 2010, by WHO Euro, the EU and the government of Romania. WHO CC ‘s Senior Advisor, Professor Vappu Taipale, was a member of the projects advisory group.

The aim of the consortium is to promote mental health and to decrease the incidence and related disease burden of mental and behavioural disorders worldwide. The priorities for the next two-year period are increasing awareness of mental health, distributing good practices and increasing expertise. Working groups will submit their reports by the end of 2011 and the results will be available in the world conference 2012 in Perth, Australia.

The working group aims to exchange good practice in mental health between various European countries, to contribute to the debate about the establishment of partnerships by sharing examples of cooperation between different stakeholders, and to support the implementation of the European Pact for Mental Health and Well-being. Working group was launched in 2010 and WHO CC’s Director, Dr Eija Stengård, is a member of the group.
ESN mental health working group
WHO CC collaborates with Southern Ostrobothnia (Finland) and Lanarkshire (Scotland). This 3-year long collaboration aims to develop mental health work by exchanging experiences at regional level. The collaboration was launched when WHO CC's Director, Dr Eija Stengård, with colleagues, paid a visit to the mental health provision of Lanarkshire in October 2009.

WHO CC is a member in the European Network for Mental Health, which aims to promote mental health and to distribute good practices.
