WHO Collaborating Centre for Mental Health Promotion, Prevention and Policy

The WHO Collaborating Centre (WHO CC) for Mental Health Promotion, Prevention and Policy has four main goals:

  • providing knowledge and indicators for mental health
  • evidence-based mental health promotion
  • prevention of mental health disorders
  • contributing  to mental health policy

Mental health promotion as a priority

In 2010 - 2013 mental health promotion is considered a priority goal. The WHO CC is a partner in two EU-funded projects which aim to develop training materials for mental health promotion in schools, workplaces and older people's residences.

The main WHO CC activities include providing information, training and expert networking, as well as research and development.

WHO CC collaborating partners

The WHO Collaboration Centre for Mental Health Promotion, Prevention and Policy is based on the collaboration initiative of the National Institute for Health and Welfare and the Finnish Institute for Occupational Health. WHO CC is located in the Mental Health Promotion Unit of the National Institute for Health and Welfare in Helsinki.
